Laboratorio di Cultura Digitale


The LabCD “Laboratorio di Cultura Digitale” (Laboratory of Digital Culture) of the University of Pisa develops projects in the field of digital humanities.
The main areas of interest are: e-learning, digital editions, digital philology, digital libraries, archives and websites, digital art and design, 3D graphics, multimedia production, e-books.
The strength of the lab is the strong interaction between professors and students and the development of solutions based on ICT.

People involved in the project

Enrica Salvatori is professor of Medieval History at the University of Pisa. She’s the director of the LabCD.

Maria Simi is professor of Computer Science at the University of Pisa. She’s the director of the programme in Digital Humanities of the University of Pisa.

Chiara Mannari is a digital humanist. Master’s degree in Digital Humanities at the University of Pisa, she has a research grant at the LabCD.

Main activities

  • Logo & identity: design of the logo “A Digital Journey in Europe” and brand identity of the project.
  • Website: design and development of the website, website maintenance and coordination of the editorial staff.
  • Training activities: coordinate events and training activities helping teachers to acquire digital skills and learning methods.
  • Teaching materials: production of online and offline contents to support all the partners.
