Maynooth University, Professionshoejskolen Lillebaelt & Sacred Heart SNS

ABOUT A DIGITAL JOURNEY IN EUROPE

The project consisted of a partnership between 13 organisations, 4 each in Ireland, Italy and Denmark and one in Finland. There were ten schools and three Higher Education Institutes. The lead organisation is Sacred Heart Senior National School in Dublin. The project started in 2015 and ran for three years.
The main aim of the project was to share and develop good practices in relation to the use of ICT in primary schools. It addressed the development of transversal skills in the area of ICT as well as enhancing the professional competences of teachers. It also encompasses a cross-sectoral approach since there are Higher Education Institutes involved in developing training activities for teachers.

ABOUT THIS GUIDE

The manual will complement the one-day teacher training events that the third level institutions will organise and facilitate at each of the three transnational meetings each year for the duration of the project. It will give teachers a general overview of the various topics selected; outline some of the benefits for teachers and pupils of using such technologies in schools and classes for teaching and learning. Links to articles, tutorials, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) available online that will assist teachers with using such tools in their teaching and learning. It will point teachers in the direction of exemplars (e.g videos, podcasts, presentations etc.) showcasing good practice of actual use of such technologies in classrooms and schools engaged in this project available on the project website.
